Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Distributing the precious body of Christ

A Eucharistic Minister is responsible for distributing to people, a thin wafer that is blessed, that Jesus Christ has become present in. If you would like to volunteer to minister Jesus to the mass, please contact Barbara Theate at 215-333-0442 or email her at olc_btate@comcast.net.

What is involved?

Eucharistic Ministers provide the body of Christ to Catholics who have completed his or her communion sacrament. Distribution of Christ is given during mass to people in line to receive our Lord. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are needed for administering the Eucharist at the 5PM Saturday mass, the 9AM and 11AM Sunday masses, and special occasions (feasts and holidays). There is a call for Extraordinary Ministers to provide the Eucharist to people who need Christ brought to them. People who need to have communion brought to them are those who are house-bound such as the sick, elderly, and the disabled.
