Below you will find a weekly listing of the Scriptures used at Mass each day. The sentence after each date lists the Scriptures used and the theme of the day’s readings.  This can be used as a preparation for Mass - or to help with daily prayer and meditation at home.

 

 

28 Sunday: SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT

RDGS:     Gn 15:5-12,17-18     Ps 27:1,7-9,13-14     Phil 3:17-4:1 or 3:20-4:1     Lk 9:28b-36

Abram's faith is sealed with a covenant initiated by God (1), our light and our salvation (Ps). The transfiguration of Jesus (3) prefigures the transformation in glory to which we are called by our sharing in the paschal mystery -- the dying and rising of Jesus (2).

1 Monday: Lenten Weekday [2]

RDGS:     Dn 9:4b-10     Ps 79:8-9,11,13     Lk 6:36-38

Imitate the love of the Father (2) who is full of compassion (Ps) and forgiveness (1).


2 Tuesday: Lenten Weekday [2]

RDGS:     Is 1:10,16-20     Ps 50:8-9,16bc-17,21,23     Mt 23:1-12

If you wish to be upright (Ps) in the sight of the Lord (2), "learn to do good" and "make justice your aim" (1).


3 Wednesday: Lenten Weekday [2]; Katherine Drexel, virgin (USA)

RDGS:       Jer 18:18-20     Ps 31:5-6,14-16     Mt 20:17-28

Jeremiah prays for deliverance (1,Ps). Jesus prays that he might accept the cup of which he must drink (2).


4 Thursday: Lenten Weekday [2]; Casmir

RDGS:       Jer 17:5-10     Ps 1:1-4,6      Lk 16:19-31

Selfishness and unbelief lead to death (2) while those who delight in God's law (Ps) bear fruit and inherit life (1).


5 Friday: Lenten Weekday [2]

RDGS:      Gn 37:3-4,12-13a, 17b-28a    Ps 105:16-21      Mt 21:33-43,45-46

Joseph's brothers plot his death (1,Ps).  The enemies of Jesus conspire to have him arrested (2).


6 Saturday: Lenten Weekday [2]

RDGS:      Mi 7:14-15,18-20     Ps 103:1-4,9-12     Lk 15:1-3,11,32

The forgiving father hopes that his love will be imitated (2). He mirrors God's unfailing mercy, pardon, and grace (1,Ps).
